SIMONA HALEP reduced her parents and coach to tears after fulfilling her childhood dream.
Halep broke her Grand Slam duck in Paris last year but the Wimbledon title was the one that she - and her mum - really wanted.
The Romanian, who thrashed seven-time champion Serena Williams 6-2 6-2 in just 56 minutes, said: "It’s something very special and I will never forget this day.
"It was my mum's dream for me when I was 10 or 12. She said if you want to do something in tennis you have to play the final of Wimbledon so thanks to my parents.
"At the beginning of the tournament I told people in the locker room that if I win it will be amazing because then I get membership here for life so that was one of my motivations before, so now I'm happy."
Halep rose to the occasion magnificently in front of parents Stere and Tania, coach Daniel Dobre and a Centre Court crowd with plenty of Romanian voices in it.
Asked by BBC presenter Sue Barker if she had ever played a better match, she said: "Never. It was the best match of my career and of course Serena has always inspired us so thank you for that.
"I've worked hard for this, it’s an honour to play in front of the Royal Box.
"I had nerves. My stomach was not very well before the match but I knew there was no time for emotions. I just came out on court on gave my best."

Williams just had no answer to Halep's amazing court coverage and shot-making, and made error after error as she tried to keep pace with the pocket rocket.
Williams said: "She really played out of her mind.
"I was a little bit of a deer in the headlights. Whenever they play that amazing you just have to take your hat off and nod them on the head and congratulate them for all the hard work."
