Great Britain rugby league kit revealed ahead of first games for 12 years

And Oliver Gildart and Tommy Makinson admitted seeing the red, white and blue again brought moments from the past flooding back.

Burgess’ legal hit on New Zealand’s Fuifui Moimoi in 2007 and Morley’s illegal hit on Australia’s Robbie Kearns, that saw him sent off after 12 seconds in 2003, stuck in their minds.

Wigan ace Gildart said: “The Sam Burgess tackle on Fuifui Moimoi is one memory that sticks in my head.

“I watched Sean O’Loughlin and when I look at the kit it reminds me of him, Jamie Peacock and Sam. Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to wear it at the end of the year.”

St Helens ace Makinson added: “Adrian Morley defined what the Great Britain jersey was about.

“That sending off for me when the Aussies came over all arrogant and he just knocked it out of them in seconds."

Great Britain will face Tonga in Hamilton, New Zealand on October 26 before taking on the Kiwis in Auckland and Christchurch on November 2 and 9.

Then it is on to Port Moresby to face the rugby league-mad nation of Papua New Guinea and St Helens prop Alex Walmsley cannot wait to wear it again if picked.

He said: “It brings everything iconic about Great Britain back. To walk among some of the names in history and say you’ve worn the same jersey would be huge."
