ANTHONY JOSHUA must axe long-time trainer Rob McCracken to have any hope of winning all his world titles back.
Amir Khan has told his fellow Brit to follow his lead and get a new coach — if he is to stand a chance in his December return with Andy Ruiz Jr.
In the last seven years, Khan, 32, worked with offensive genius Freddie Roach, defensive master Virgil Hunter and is now coached by ex-world champ Bones Adams.
Former British middleweight champ McCracken coached AJ, 29, to a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics, and has worked with him ever since.
But Khan said: “Joshua should change his team.
“I’ve got nothing against his coach, he might be an amazing coach. But having a new voice in the corner, having a new gameplan, it definitely changes it up.
“Sometimes you have to do that. I did that. Look at when I lost my first fight to Breidis Prescott, I went to Freddie Roach.
“Then when I lost to Danny Garcia I went to Virgil. I’ve had big changes in my career but it’s been brilliant and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it.”
KHAN'S UK REMATCH PLEA
Roly-poly Ruiz shocked boxing when he beat Joshua in June in New York — taking his WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
Ruiz wants the rematch in the US while Joshua and his team want it at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 14.
Khan reckons AJ needs that home advantage.
