Demba Ba calls on all black players to boycott Italy’s Serie A after Inter Milan fans defend sick monkey chants at Lukaku
SERIE A should be boycotted by black players to make a serious stand against racism, Demba Ba has stated.
The fallout to the sick abuse of Romelu Lukaku continues with Ba responding to a baffling statement by an Inter Milan fans group that defended Cagliari insults aimed at the Belgian.
Ba has now spoken out over the latest racism row to hit football this season.
The Senegal forward revealed on Wednesday that he has always rejected opportunities to play in Italy precisely because of the racism issue.
He wrote on Twitter: "And here's the reason why I decided not to play there when I could...
"And at that point I wish all the black players would get out of this league!
"Surely it won't stop their stupidity and hate but at least they won't affect other races."
Inter ultras group Curva Nord insisted that vile monkey chants aimed at Lukaku by Cagliari fans as he took a penalty at the weekend were merely a tool to put him off.
Similar incidents involving Cagliari abusing Moise Kean, Blaise Matuidi and Sulley Muntari in the past couple of years were also swept under the rug.
Italy legend Leonardo Bonucci even said young forward Kean was "50/50" responsible when Cagliari fans rained monkey chants down on him following a goal for Juventus last season.
Lukaku was visibly unhappy with the chants levelled at him last weekend and called upon social media platforms to crack down on racist behaviour brewing online.
He stated: "Football is a game to be enjoyed by everyone and we shouldn't accept any form of discrimination that will put our game in shame.
"I hope the football federations all over the world react strongly on all cases of discrimination!
"Social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) need to work better as well with football clubs because every day you see at least a racist comment under a post of a person of colour."
