Andy Ruiz Jr quits Snickers and wolfs down avocado and spinach omelettes and chicken salad
ANDY RUIZ JR has swapped Snickers for fruit and nuts as he embarks on his training camp for the Anthony Joshua rematch.
The chubby Mexican revealed in the build-up to his stunning KO of Joshua that he loved to gorge on the famous chocolate bars.
He was even awarded a Snickers world title belt as a present for delivering one of boxing's biggest ever shocks.
But as he prepares to put all his heavyweight world titles on the line against the man he ripped them off, his diet is all change.
spoke to his personal nutritionist and chef, Zo's Meal Plans, who explained how things are going to change for the portly 30-year-old.
They insist Ruiz will be disciplined, and will be eating "lot of fruits and vegetables", with the "occasional treat".
But instead of this being a giant box of popcorn at the cinema on a Friday night, it will now be Tacos - but "nothing too crazy".
SNICKERS SWAPPED FOR FRUIT AND NUTS
Vegetables and fish are being introduced to his daily plan, that will give him "the correct fuel to get through his training sessions."
For breakfast Ruiz will now eat an omelette with mushroom, spinach and avocado.
He will also have meat thrown in sometimes and if he's been a good trainer he will get a hash brown as well.
For lunch the Mexican will throw a chicken salad or a chicken wrap down his gullet.
But it's the snacks that will hit him hard.
Out go his much-loved Snickers bars and in come fruit and nuts. As a treat he might get his fast hands on a sandwich.
FUELLED AND HAPPY
Onto dinner, and it will be a healthy pasta or rice dish cooked up.
This could be with steak, chicken or fish - but it will all be "lean".
His nutritionist added: "He works out very hard and his training days are rough so I keep him fuelled and happy."
Following his devastating loss at Madison Square Garden, Joshua was keen to organise a rematch and win back his belts.
But it took until August for both sides to finally get around the table and agree a date, with both fighters now having signed contracts for the second bout.
The pair will go toe-to-toe on Saturday December 7, 2019 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
