Controversial British boxer pulls out of eagerly anticipated showdown with Ukrainian boxer with a 'badly sprained' ankle

TYSON FURY has been forced to postpone his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko after spraining his ankle.

Fury, 27, was due to defend the WBO and WBA Super world heavyweight titles against the veteran Ukrainian at the Manchester Arena on July 9.

But the undefeated Gypsy King, who ripped the belts from Klitschko's grasp in Germany last November, has taken medical advice and pulled out.

Making the announcement on social media, Fury said: "I've got a little bit of bad news for you all.

"Ten days ago, while running in the Lake District, I went over on my ankle and sprained it.

"I've been to the hospital, had X-rays, scans and all that stuff. They said it's not broken but it's badly sprained and I should keep off it for six to seven weeks.

"I had a second opinion a week later and was given the same advice, so the fight will be postponed.

"I'm sorry to let down all my fans, but injuries do happen — it's one of those things.

Hours before breaking the news, Fury had hit back at 40-year-old Klitschko for comparing him to Hitler over his controversial beliefs.

The Mancunian blasted: "Wladimir obviously has no education on the matter as he doesn’t realise that Hitler killed hundred of thousands of gypsies, if not millions.

"To call me that is a very, very bad insult because a lot of my ancestors were killed and murdered by Hitler.

"For you to call me that is a very bad insult. Let's not forget that your people, the Ukrainians, were the guards of the death camps where my people were slaughtered.

"So if you really want to go into it, we both can play silly c****, can't we, you stupid f****** Ukrainian p****."
