Wladimir Klitschko remains determined to knock out Tyson Fury after July 9 fight postponed

The Ukrainian has not been deterred by the set-back and is out to get his heavyweight titles back however long he has to wait

The pair will fight again on July 9 in Manchester

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO remains determined to set the record straight against Tyson Fury — regardless of how long he has to wait.

Klitschko, 40, was due to face the WBO and WBA Super world heavyweight champion at Manchester Arena on July 9.

But their rematch was postponed on Friday when Fury revealed he had suffered a badly sprained ankle while running in the Lake District.

A new date has yet to be set but Klitschko insists all he cares about is beating the Gypsy King after losing to him in Germany last November.

The veteran Ukrainian said: "It's not about the belts. The belts are secondary.

"It's a man that puts a defeat on your list, so I'm fighting not for the belts, honestly.

"It's about Fury in this case and I am emotional about it. I love it and I'm excited about it.

"I've been very controlled with emotions in the past years but sometimes you just want to say 'screw it' and want to let it go free.”

Before losing via unanimous decision to Fury in Dusseldorf, Klitschko had not tasted defeat since being stopped by Lamon Brewster in October 2004.

He was bamboozled by Fury’s awkward style and barely threw a right hand after failing to get his jab going.

It remains to be seen whether Klitschko can make the necessary adjustments to his tried-and-trusted style to let the leather fly.

But the former heavyweight kingpin insists he has the formula to nullify Fury and bounce back from just the fourth defeat of his stellar 68-fight professional career.

He added: "I know what happened in the first fight and I know how to fix it. I truly believe we are capable of doing that.

"I need to perform — that's what's important. I'm relying on my experience.

“I have had defeats before and after each one I came back stronger than before.

"I've had enough time to think about what was wrong. We know with the result what was going on.

“There was a lack of punches thrown but it was thought about and I will fix it.

"I haven't needed to change a lot, just tighten a few screws. The outcome is going to look totally different.”
