Wladimir Klitschko v Tyson Fury II: Rematch between heavyweight giants confirmed for October 29 at the Manchester Arena
Pair will finally face each other again with Fury looking to defend titles he won in spectacular fashion last November
TYSON FURY’S long-awaited rematch with Wladimir Klitschko will take place at the Manchester Arena on October 29.
The heavyweight duo were originally due to collide at the same venue in July but the date was scrapped when Fury injured an ankle.
Undefeated Fury, 28, shocked the boxing world last November when he dethroned Klitschko in Germany to become the unified world champion.
Peter Fury, the title-holder's uncle and trainer, said: “I’m delighted we can finally get the fight back on and in Manchester.
“After hard discussions we can now focus on giving the fans what they deserve — another barnburner of a fight.
“Team Fury will ensure Tyson is in the shape of his life to successfully retain his world titles.”
Klitschko, 40, is desperate to reclaim the WBA Super, WBO and Ring Magazine titles in what could well be his final contest.
The Ukrainian's manager Bernd Bonte said: “Wladimir will be in the best shape on October 29 and we are very confident he will regain the heavyweight championships.”
Fury’s promoter Mick Hennessy added: “Everyone involved has worked tirelessly to get the world heavyweight title rematch between Tyson and Wladimir back on and I’m thrilled it’s now officially confirmed.
“This is the rematch the boxing world has been waiting to see and the anticipation is now at boiling point, so expect a highly charged and explosive fight when the best two heavyweights in the world collide.
“As Tyson’s promoter, I have 100 per cent confidence he will retain his titles in front of his fans and make it another memorable night for British boxing to remember.”
