BOXER Hasan Karkardi and trainer Liam Wilkins have been suspended following a sparring session that left Nick Blackwell in hospital.

Blackwell was forced to retire from the sport when he was left in a coma following a bleed to the brain after a fight with Chris Eubank Jnr back in April.

But the 26-year-old was readmitted back into hospital after it emerged Blackwell had taken part in an illicit sparring session with light-heavyweight boxer Karkardi whilst Wilkins oversaw the four round session.

The British Boxing Board of Control has suspended the duo and they must attend a Board hearing in January.

Wilkins, 21, had only been handed given his trainer's licence in February whilst Karkardi was due to fight Chris Hobbs this weekend but the fight has now been postponed.

Blackwell has gone onto make a full recovery before being told he could never box or spar again.

But his love of boxing lured him to putting on the gloves again before enduring another life threatening injury.

The Trowbridge warrior collected his trainer’s licence from the British Boxing Board of Control last month as he looked towards the next chapter of his career.
