Joseph Parker earnings for Anthony Joshua fight revealed by promoter Eddie Hearn
Kiwi, 26, had his WBO snatched taken away from him in Cardiff after a unanimous points defeat to AJ on March 31
EDDIE HEARN has revealed that Joseph Parker earned less than £6.5million from his defeat to Anthony Joshua.
The Kiwi, 26, had his WBO crown snatched away from him in Cardiff after a unanimous points defeat to AJ on March 31.
Parker demanded a third of all proceeds from the fight and appeared to have got his way.
AJ's promoter Hearn has scoffed at claims that Parker picked up £13m – the approximate purse that the Brit was reported to have netted.
One Twitter user compared the purses of recent Joshua opponents, amid claims that Deontay Wilder could net £8.8m for a fight with the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champ.
And after seeing Parker's earnings quoted as £13m, Hearn remarked: "Where an earth do you get that Parker purse from."
He added: "Cut in half and it’s still too much."
AJ and Hearn have been ordered to sort out a WBA title defence against mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in the next 30 days.
But they are keen to postpone that fight and sort out a bout with American Wilder, with the winner unifying the division.

It would be the first time there has been an 'undisputed heavyweight champion' since Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield on points in 1999.
Wilder’s team have reportedly demanded a 50/50 split of the pot, before lowering their sights to 40 per cent.
But the £8.8m – which doesn’t include pay-per-view or gate revenue – works out at less than 20 per cent of the estimated £75m revenue that the fight is expected to generate.
NO GLOVE LOST Joshua tells Fury to stop being a commentator and start being a fighter
Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel said: "It was a take-it-or-leave-it offer. A flat fee with no place, date or venue, nor even whether it was the next fight.
"We will respond appropriately in the next day or so with our counter offer. If Joshua is serious, we will take the fight. Deontay wants this fight. He doesn’t want anyone else."
