OHARA DAVIES got off to a winning start under new promoter Frank Warren - but strangely the fight wasn’t broadcast live.

The Hackney boxer has been heralded as a major signing for Warren’s team, with him being talked up for a world title shot down the line.

However, Davies took to the ring against late stand-in Ahmed Ibrahim before the broadcast transmission went live on BoxNation, which will leave many scratching their head.

Davies says he was “thrown under the bus” when rival promoter Eddie Hearn dispensed with his services.

But Warren didn’t waste any time in swooping in for the super lightweight, and is expected to fast-track him to a British title shot in the next 12 months.

But with hundreds, rather than thousands in attendance at Elland Road this evening, it might not have been the debut Two Tanks was expecting.

And against an awkward opponent who took the fight at the last hour, it was always going to be difficult for Davies to showcase his full repertoire.

But he won every round of the six against his Glasgow opponent in a fight he barely had to step out of first gear.

Davies’ rampaging through the super lightweight division came to a shuddering halt when he was stopped by Scot Josh Taylor in July last year.

He was hammered by many boxing fans as a “quitter” after he took a knee after a barrage of blows from Taylor that ended up stopping the fight in the seventh round.

Since that fateful night in Glasgow Davies stopped Tom Farrell in the sixth round after flooring him five times to bag the WBA International super lightweight title.
