Manny Pacquiao vs Adrien Broner: Amir Khan’s ‘Pacman’ hopes dashed as Filipino confirms January bout
Manny Pacquiao will fight Adrien Broner in January, meaning Amir Khan's pursuit of the Filipino look to be over
MANNY PACQUIAO announced he will take on American Adrien Broner in a January showdown.
The fight will take place on either January 12 or 19 and likely in Las Vegas.
Amir Khan had hoped to fight the 39-year-old Filipino, but that bout now looks to be dead in the water.
Eight-division champion Pacquiao made the announcement on Wednesday night at an event in Manila in the Philippines.
When asked who he will fight next, Pacquiao said: "Broner, Adrien Broner - I think either on January 12 or 19."
It was mentioned that Pacquiao will be facing Floyd Mayweather Jr after the former pound for pound king announced that he was coming back to take on the Filipino.
Pacquiao won the WBA welterweight strap in his last fight against Argentina’s Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur in July.
Pacman stopped the former champion in the seventh round in the Malaysian showdown.
Broner on the other hand hasn’t had a successful year.
The controversial boxer lost to Mikey Garcia in July last year and had a draw against Jesse Vargas in March.
