Amir Khan to face Crawford at iconic Madison Square Garden in Las Vegas snub
AMIR KHAN will take on Terence Crawford at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden, in a major Las Vegas snub.
The Bolton boxer, 32, will take on the American on April 20 in his first fight since beating Samuel Vargas in September.
It will be Khan's third fight back at welterweight after his unsuccessful one-fight cameo at middleweight - a loss to Canelo Alvarez.
And the pair will fight in New York - after Khan lost to Saul at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in 2016.
Crawford, 31, is listed as the No1 pound-for-pound boxer on the planet in a number of unofficial rankings.
Yet earlier this month, Khan revealed turning down a fight with Kell Brook to take on the American was the "hardest decision of his life".
The 2004 Olympic silver medallist said: “The decision about fighting Brook or Crawford has been one of the most difficult decisions of my career to date.
“Clearly the UK fans want to see Khan vs Brook, but I could not turn down the opportunity to fight for the WBO title.
“That is not to say that the Brook fight won't happen, as I want that fight to happen as soon as possible.
“Fighting a world champion won't be easy, but this is exactly the challenge I need at this stage of my career.”
