LIVE: Updates from the Third Test at Lord’s as England lose more wickets after rain delays play in the capital

England lead the series 2-0 after a pair of simple victories over Angelo Mathews' tourists at Headingley and Chester-Le-Street

England enjoyed a stunning start to day three of the Third Test at Lord's taking three wickets for just seven runs thanks to Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad

FOLLOW the latest updates from day four of the Third Test between England and Sri Lanka at Lord's.

18.45 CHANCE! We're back underway and Jimmy has it on a string. England are throwing everything at the Sri Lankan openers who are holding out on 7-0.

17:31: MATCH DELAYED: Rain stops play

15:25: NOT OUT! It takes an age for video umpire to decide if there was an edge (there wasn't) - and ball tracking shows impact with pad was outside the line of off. Cook survives. England are 138-5.

15:22 REVIEW Cook is given out, LBW to Herath, but is encouraged to review by Alex Hales. It looks like the impact with the back pad might have been outside the line...

15:03 WICKET!! (FINN 7) The night watchman has gone. Finn is pinned in front of middle stump by Eranga. And, bizarrely, it's the 10,000-run skipper Alastair Cook who is in at No7. England are 120-5.

14:45 We're off. We have now lost  30 overs to rain, but play can continue till 7pm tonight.

14:15 Play will start at 2:40pm, if it doesn't start raining again.

13:55 The covers are coming off. This is looking promising.

10:50 Hello and welcome to Day 4 where England will resume on 109-4 with Hales and the nightwatchman Finn at the crease.

It was a rollercoaster ride yesterday with England getting the upper hand in the morning before Sri Lanka struck back with the ball to leave the hosts teetering at 50-3.

The weather for today does not look good but hopefully injured Alastair Cook's side can get on the pitch to push on towards a declaration.
