He has even offered to drop himself during the tournament if his form does not improve.

But, when asked if he will continue as captain, Morgan said: “I’m hoping to.”

England has the oldest squad in the tournament.

There are only three players out of 15 under the age of 30.

But Morgan refuses to accept it is a last hurrah for his team that has produced some brilliant white ball cricket over the last five years.

Morgan insisted: “I think there will be plenty more opportunities.

“When you look at the mainstays of the group who have been around the longest, they’re coming into the peak of their powers - such as Jos Buttler, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow as well as Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer.

“They will definitely play the next T20 and 50-over World Cups and it’s up to them what they do after that.”

Eoin Morgan takes his side to the UAE looking to add another white ball trophy to England's haul.

That’s after their one-day World Cup win in 2019.

Sixteen nations will compete for the crown with the West Indies out to defend the title they won in 2016.
