England star Joe Root run out in the most outrageous of ways in the second ODI against South Africa on Saturday
Yorkshireman was left stranded after Dwaine Pretorius got a fingertip on Eoin Morgan's glorious straight drive which clattered into the stumps at the bowler's end at the Ageas Bowl
ENGLAND star Joe Root was run out in the most outrageous of ways in the second ODI against South Africa.
The Yorkshireman - and Test captain - looked at his fluent best as he reach 39 from just 41 balls, including six fours.
However, standing at the non-striker's end, Root was backing-up as Dwaine Pretorius bowled to one-day skipper Eoin Morgan.

The Irishman, who scored a sublime ton in the first ODI, played a perfectly-timed straight drive that clattered into the stumps at the bowler's end.
Unfortunately for Root, Pretorius got the tiniest of touches on the ball as he it raced past his hand.
The South African appealed, with the decision going to the third umpire - who confirmed Pretorius had got the faintest of touches on the ball.
That meant Root was to be sent back to the pavilion in the most heart-breaking of ways.
The wicket left England on 80-3 after 15.5 overs having been asked to bat after losing the toss earlier in the day.
