Meet Virat Kohli’s Bollywood star wife Anushka Sharma and Wags of India ahead of Test series
The world's No 1 team show their wives and girlfriends are also top of the table - for glamour - as the cricketers face England
INDIA'S cricketers have launched a Sharm offensive as they prepare for the Test series with England.
The world's No 1 team believe their WAGS are also top of the table - for glamour - starting with skipper Virat Kohli's Bollywood star wife Anushka Sharma.
The couple have been enchanting fans of the most cricket-hungry country in the world by tweeting photos of themselves from the tour.
Accompanying one such snap, as Anushka rests on his arm in a street, Kohli posted: "Just being able to walk around feels like the most joyous thing in the world."
At the same time, put together a squad of "".
The descriptions are thankfully free of maidens being bowled over but the WAGS themselves are full of bling, colour and diverse careers.
But pride of place in India surely goes to actress Anushka.
Their romance, and wedding last December, was like a Royal relationship in this country.
Anushka, 30, is one of the highest-paid movie stars in India, as well as a film producer, fashion designer and model.
Her three main movies are amongst the biggest money-makers ever in Bollywood - sports drama Sultan, religious satire PK and biopic Sanju.
And the backgrounds of other current WAGS could make intriguing Bollywood stories.
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan's wife Ayesha Mukherjee is an amateur boxer, who was brought up in Australia but is half-British, half-Bengali.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik married India's top female squash player Dipika Pallikal in 2015.
Her mum played for India at cricket and in her own sport Dipika was the first Indian woman to break into the world's top ten.
And Priyanka Chaudhary, the wife of T20 specialist Suresh Raina, is a software engineer who used to be a banker and a social worker.
Most of the WAGS, on the list, are not connected to the current Indian Test team.
Among the best-known are two Bollywood actresses.
Geeta Basra is married to all-time great spin bowler Harbhajan Singh, while Essex-born model Hazel Keech tied the knot with Yuvraj Singh in 2016.
