Philippe Coutinho snubbed Tottenham transfer and now returns to England back in form with Bayern Munich and with an impressive record against Spurs

PHILIPPE COUTINHO is out to haunt Tottenham once again when they host Bayern Munich tonight.

The rejuvenated Brazilian is showing the same form that earned him that big money move from Liverpool to Barcelona in January 2018.

Whether it was the price-tag or the pressure of playing for Barcelona, Coutinho failed to live up to expectations and eventually left for Bayern after 18 months.

A move to the Bundesliga champions has provided him with a fresh start and he appears to be revelling in his new-found freedom.

The 27-year-old has scored twice and assisted two in three league starts and he'll be desperate to light up the biggest stage of all in the Champions League.

Coutinho will feel he has a point to prove but to Spurs fans across the country, they are fully aware of the damage he can inflict on the field.

He has played 13 times against Spurs throughout his career, winning seven and losing just twice.

One of those came in the Champions League for Inter Milan in 2010 when he was introduced in the final 26 minutes of a 3-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.

The other came in October 2017 when Spurs ran out 4-1 winners over Jurgen Klopp's side.

He has found the net three times including for Barca in 2018 as the Catalan giants came out on top at Wembley in a 4-2 victory.

If Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino had his way, then Coutinho would be lining up in the colours of Tottenham tonight.

The Argentine attempted to sign him in the summer on a loan deal in the summer after hearing of his availability.

But Coutinho turned them down before eventually completing his switch to Germany.

A defeat for Spurs will leave them in a tough spot following their disappointing draw to Olympiacos in their last outing.

Bayern top the group after their opening 3-0 win over Red Star.
