And it has been claimed that the Gunners are willing to ship him off on loan in the New Year - and are even prepared to pay him to leave.

Ozil, 30, has featured just once in the Premier League this season, with Unai Emery preferring the likes of Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock instead.

Asked why he was omitted from the squad that faced Standard Liege last week, Emery said: "I am thinking every time to decide the best players for each match and the best players in the squad to play and to help us.

“When I decided he shouldn't be in the squad it's because I think other players deserved it more.”

And Fenerbahce are believed to be willing to offer him an escape route, with Turkish outlet claiming they are set to revive their interest in the World Cup winner.

They state that the ex-Real Madrid star is keen to join his boyhood club, with Fenerbahce’s director of football Damien Comolli in discussions with the Gunners.

It has even been suggested that the North London giants are willing to pay a portion of his wages.

Arsenal icon Ray Parlour is of the opinion that the emergence of Arsenal's young guns have made Ozil surplus to requirements.

Speaking on 's Alan Brazil show, he said: “I have been really impressed by the youngsters coming through, from Arsenal's point of view.

“Ozil's not even in the squad now. I think that's probably the end of his career at Arsenal.

“You have got youngsters that deserve an opportunity probably more than him at the moment.”
