Gaffer Steven Gerrard made four changes to his side for the Europa League clash as Brandon Barker came in for his first European start.

And in a half-empty Estadio Dragao his men put in a battling performance to claim what could be a vital point in Group G.

There was little between the teams in the opening exchanges as the home side looked to assert themselves to make home advantage count.

The Portuguese outfit did begin to grow into the match, and a short time before they scored big striker Ze Luis saw his header smack off the post.

Although, moments later, winger Luis Diaz scored a screamer from wide left into Allan McGregor's top corner.

Ryan Jack's slack pass was picked up by the winger before slamming his side into a 1-0 lead.

However, it was short lived as the Light Blues levelled.

Centre-back Filip Helander played a superb defence splitting pass to Borna Barisic who bombed forward down the left-side.

The Croatian swung in a terrific cross into the box and there was hitman Alfredo Morelos to fire into the roof of the net.

After the break, the Premiership side where without doubt the team on top.

Keeper McGregor was called into action in the last five minutes of the game but Porto's strikers met the veteran on top form.

He twice kept the Portuguese strike force at bay as Rangers saw out the game to travel back to Glasgow with a well-earned point
