Arsenal star Lucas Torreira was ‘in tears and inconsolable’ as Xhaka told fans to ‘f*** off’ after being booed
LUCAS TORREIRA was reduced to tears when Arsenal fans booed Granit Xhaka as he was taken off against Crystal Palace.
The Swiss international has refused to apologise after he appeared to tell his own supporters to "f*** off" during the 2-2 draw.
Torreira was left feeling emotional after the club captain ripped off his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.
Arsenal's chief photographer Stuart McFarlane reluctantly shared three snaps of the 23-year-old's reaction.
He added the caption: "Didn't want to post these pictures but felt I had to.
"This is Lucas Torreira's emotional reaction to the abuse Granit Xhaka received after his substitution, in tears and inconsolable. Absolute love and respect for his captain."
But not everyone on the sidelines felt sympathy for Xhaka - who joined the club from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016.
Unai Emery has confirmed the under-fire captain will not play against Liverpool on Wednesday.
