Liverpool boss Klopp held impromptu chat with ‘transfer target’ Sander Berge after win over Genk and left ace blushing
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering a move for Genk midfield prodigy Sander Berge after holding an impromptu chat with the star.
The £25million-rated Norway international helped his club win the Belgian league title in May.
Berge impressed in Genk's 2-1 Champions League loss at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Afterwards Klopp was seen deep in conversation with the 21-year-old in the players' tunnel.
Norwegian daily claims the Reds boss told Berge: "You are an interesting player - a very interesting player."
The defensive midfielder said: "It was a great moment. You have a big smile when you receive those sorts of compliments.
"It is wonderful when such a renowned manager as Jurgen Klopp comes over and says something like that."
Berge's agents Mike Kjolo and Morten Wivestad were present at the game.
The 6ft 4ins powerhouse turned down a £22.5million summer move to newly-promoted Sheffield United - believing he can land a move to a bigger Premier League club.
West Ham and Brighton also showed interest in Berge, who joined Genk from Norwegian club Valerenga in 2017.
Genk's defeat, following a 4-1 home loss to Liverpool, means they can no longer progress in the Champions League.
But Berge insisted: "I was happy with our team performance. We went for it, and stayed on level terms with Liverpool for most of the game.
"For me that was the main thing."
Berge, under contract until 2021, has sporting ability in his DNA.
Grandad Ragnar also played for Valerenga and Norway, while his mum, dad and brother have all played international-level basketball.
