Gareth Bale ready to risk Real Madrid’s wrath by playing for Wales despite calf injury

GARETH BALE is ready to risk the wrath of Real Madrid by playing for Wales.

Ryan Giggs' talisman trained with his Welsh team-mates in Cardiff on Monday morning - despite not turning out for his club for a month.

Bale, 30, tore his calf in Wales' last Euro 2020 qualifier against Croatia on October 13 and Real revealed last week he has not even trained with the first-team squad since.

But Bale arrived in the Welsh capital on Sunday and took part in the Dragons' first session of the week as they prepare for the crunch qualifier in Azerbaijan on Saturday.

Bale's club future remains in doubt and the news will not go down well in Spain among Real fans.

Last week, Real team-mate Toni Kroos questioned Bale's commitment following his lack of match action for the Spanish giants in recent weeks.

He said: "It's a little inconvenient when you go to your national team, then you do not play for your club."

Zinedine Zidane, who publicly wanted Bale to leave the Bernabeu last summer, claimed the Welshman was not available for selection last Friday prior to the win over Eibar.

While Bale trained under the watchful eye of Wales boss Giggs, Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, Manchester United winger Daniel James, Aston Villa defender Neil Taylor and Ashley Williams of Bristol City sat out the session because they were involved in club action on Sunday.
