Watch Andre Gomes tear up as he reads letters of support from Everton fans after suffering devastating ankle injury
EVERTON star Andre Gomes struggled to fight back the tears as he read out messages of support from fans.
The Portuguese star is on the long road to recovery from the horrific ankle break he suffered against Tottenham on November 3.
Gomes, 26, fell under the challenge of Heung-min Son and clattered into Serge Aurier before being stretchered off in agonising pain.
He has since had successful surgery and boss Marco Silva even hinted that he could make a return to the field before the end of the season.
The Toffees have beaten Southampton and lost at home to Norwich in his absence to leave Silva on the brink of the sack.
Gomes has been inundated with letters from the Everton faithful and was obviously emotional as he thanked those who took the time to write to him.
He said: "I have a lot of letters here, I will try to take my time at home just to read everything.
"Honestly guys, it's almost impossible. I feel sensitive and emotional with what you are doing with me.
"I just need to thank you all. It's just emotion. Wow. I'll be back stronger for sure and I want to help the team reach the goals we set at the beginning of the season. And just, once again, thank you for everything."
