Arsenal transfer blow as Caglar Soyuncu’s agent says Leicester star is going nowhere
CAGLAR SOYUNCU'S agent has poured cold water on any talk of the 23-year-old leaving Leicester.
The remarkable form shown by the Turkish international this season has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
Soyuncu started just four Premier League matches for the Foxes last season, following his £19million move from Bundesliga side Freiburg.
But he has been immense since the departure of Harry Maguire to Manchester United in the summer - and has played every minute in the league for the Foxes this campaign.
Arsenal's defence, meanwhile, has looked as hapless as ever - despite the summer arrivals of David Luiz and Kieran Tierney.
And Gunners chiefs reportedly believe that Soyuncu could be the man to solve their defensive woes.
The floppy-haired centre-half's agent Mustafa Dogru, however all but ruled it out.
He told Turkish radio station Radyospor: "After such performances in the Premier League, it is quite natural for transfer news to appear.
"Caglar now focuses on the success of the team. A transfer is neither on his nor the club’s agenda.
"I don't know what's going on in the future, but he's thinking about his achievements at Leicester City and with the national team.”
Dogru went on to rave about his client's talent: "I have to say, he’s performing well above our expectations.
"Obviously, we were thinking he would get more playing time this season.
"It’s down Caglar's talent, his mental quality, as well as the influence of his coach and team-mates.
“A football player is always open to development. He makes very healthy decisions under pressure and he is good with both feet, helped by playing as a midfielder in previous teams. His manager's confidence also affects him.
“He can still get much better. He will write his name in gold letters in the history of the Premier League.”
Leicester are overachieving once again in the Premier League this season, currently sitting second, 11 points above the Gunners.
