Pep Guardiola reckons Mikel Arteta is his natural successor at Man City – but only if he snubs Arsenal and Everton
PEP GUARDIOLA says Mikel Arteta can succeed him at Manchester City — if he snubs interest from Arsenal and Everton.
The Etihad No2 is on the shortlist for the vacant hotseats at both of his former clubs.
Guardiola expects Arteta, 37, to stay with the champs until the end of the season at the very least.
With his own contract due to expire in summer 2021, Pep says there could be an opportunity for Arteta to replace him.
Guardiola said: “Yes, He is able to do that. But it depends on him, the club — many things.”
The City boss is desperate for Arteta to stay and continue their partnership, but admits he cannot force him to do so.
He added: “That would be my dream but Mikel has his own life and I will never say what he has to do.
“I don’t put a gun to the heads of my staff or players and says what they have to do.
