Man Utd outcast Marcos Rojo wanted by Fiorentina in £7.7m transfer with lack of game time under Solskjaer

SERIE A strugglers Fiorentina are plotting a summer bid for Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo, according to reports.

Once again not in the squad for the Red Devils' win at Burnley on Saturday, the Argentine is thought to be valued at £7.7million.

Italian newspaper La Nazione state Fiorentina have identified Rojo as a prime option to bolster their defence.

Sporting director Daniele Prade is putting together a list of players to revamp the squad and could even attempt to agree a transfer before the season is out.

Rojo is under contract at Old Trafford until 2021 and hasn't had a look in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Playing only three times after the Norwegian arrived last season, the centre-back has been given just a further nine outings in 2019/20 with most of those coming in the cups.

Since his last appearance, a muscle injury struck during the November international break and he hasn't been seen since.

Should Fiorentina be planning to wait until the summer to cut a deal, they may find themselves out of luck as United are said to be eyeing a January sale.

Reportedly transfer listed along with Nemanja Matic, Rojo's £160,000-a-week contract is one Solskjaer wants rid of amid his own spending plans.

And the 29-year-old is assessing his options after five-and-a-half seasons at the club.

Heading to Fiorentina will certainly mean leaving one under-pressure giant for another, however.

Formier midfielder Beppe Iachini was installed as coach after the 4-1 defeat to Roma left the Tuscans 15th in Serie A.
