Arsenal blow as Calum Chambers forced off with knee injury just 20 minutes into Chelsea clash

ARSENAL suffered a serious blow when Calum Chambers was forced off just 20 minutes into the clash against Chelsea.

The centre-back suffered a seemingly innocuous challenge midway through the first half but limped off with the help of a physio.

Chambers was replaced by Shkodran Mustafi after he had assisted Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang's opener.

Auba gave the Gunners the lead in Mikel Arteta's first home game as boss.

Amazingly, that was Chambers' first assist since November 2014.

Fans were quick to wish Chambers a speedy recovery.

One said: "Phew. Best wishes on a quick recovery for Calum Chambers. Been one of our best players this season. Good to see him walking off the pitch."

Another posted: "Of course, these injury gods has to take our best CB. Get well soon Calum Chambers."

One Arsenal supporter posted: "Calum Chambers can be proud of himself for how he's played this season. Been by far our best CB this season and will provide solid depth when we have our desired group of CBs.

"Is the injury serious though? He's walking off."

It was a good sign for Arteta that Chambers was able to walk off.

But it could tempt the new manager to dip into the January transfer market if he feels he needs extra cover at the back.
