Celtic vs Rangers: Sir Rod Stewart slams Alfredo Morelos as he congratulates Gers after Old Firm win
SIR ROD STEWART congratulated Rangers on their Old Firm win over Celtic - before taking a swipe at Alfredo Morelos.
The Celtic-daft rocker - earlier this month involved in a bust-up with Gers officials at Hampden - aimed a dig at the Light Blues striker over his second yellow card of the game for simulation.
Steven Gerrard’s side ran out 2-1 winners at Parkhead thanks to goals from Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic.
After the match, Sir Rod wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations @RangersFC. Could have gone either way.
“Would someone please tell Morelos to just stand up and play football?
“If he must dive please go to the nearest swimming pool. Sir Rod.”
Morelos took centre stage once again as Rangers left Celtic Park with the victory.
He ran his hand across his throat as he gestured to the Celtic supporters after being sent off with just seconds remaining.
His dismissal also sparked a touchline bust-up between Rangers coach Michael Beale and Celtic No2 John Kennedy.
The pair squared up to each other after Beale had been sent off by Clancy for his reaction to Morelos’ dismissal.
Earlier in the match, El Bufalo passed up a golden opportunity to break his duck against Celtic after firing over the bar from just six yards out.
Meanwhile, Sir Rod’s comments come just weeks after Rangers claimed he was directed out of a plush Hampden lounge after hassling an Ibrox director’s teenage son.
Former Scotland striker Alan Brazil sensationally claimed on talkSPORT that a Gers official’s boy “went for Sir Rod” as his Betfred Cup Final celebrations spilled over.
But furious Gers chiefs denied Brazil’s version of events and insist the youngster did not react, despite allegedly being goaded by the 74-year-old, who is believed to have had a few drinks before the incident.
Just days later the Green Brigade aimed an X-rated banner blast at the Hoops fan after he congratulated Boris Johnson on his General Election victory.
Sir Rod praised the Conservative Prime Minister just hours after his triumph at the polls.
The ultras’ display read: “Tories not welcome. F*** off Rod.”
Elsewhere, former Rangers star Fraser Aird was caught on camera making w***er gestures towards the Celtic support at the Old Firm derby.
