Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen wanted by Ajax and Napoli in transfer window as Arsenal legend Overmars looks to seal deal
NAPOLI and Ajax are chasing Tottenham stalwart Jan Vertonghen, according to reports.
The 32-year-old defender has been a rock for Spurs since joining under Andre Villas-Boas in 2012.
The Serie A club are likely to lose star centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly at the end of the season and believe that the Spurs defender could be the ideal experienced replacement.
Koulibaly has been linked with Tottenham himself, but may be out of their price range.
His agent Tom de Mul, however, has assured Ajax director of football Marc Overmars that Vertonghen would be open to a return to the club that he played for between 2003 and 2012.
Despite Vertonghen being free to speak to other clubs, with his contract expiring in June, Spurs would still expect to recoup the £11million they spent on him back in 2012 if they are to sell.
He could still end up staying at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and is open to discussing a new deal with the Lilywhites.
One player that will not be extending his Spurs deal though, is Christian Eriksen.
The Dane is certain to leave the club and could even make his exit this month, with Inter Milan emerging as front-runners for his signature.
