Arsenal turn to £4.25m Jerome Boateng after being priced out of Dayot Upamecano transfer
ARSENAL are reportedly ready to turn to Jerome Boateng as they hunt for a new centre-back.
Bayern Munich are ready to let the German World Cup winner go for a cut price.
And with the Gunners scrambling around for a new defender in the wake of Calum Chambers' devastating ACL injury - Boateng could fit the bill.
Arteta told reporters after Chambers' blow: "It’s a bad injury and that has changed our plans at the back. So we’ll try to look in the transfer market for options to strengthen the team."
The believe that Mikel Arteta's side are looking at Boateng in this window, with claiming that it will take just £4.25million to land the former Man City defender.
Arsenal's budget is limited, having announced a pre-tax loss of £23.5million for the year ending May 31.
And that figure doesn't include the fees shelled out in the summer transfer splurge that saw them sign Kieran Tierney, Willian Saliba, David Luiz and £72million record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The Gunners are still interested in RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, having looked at the 21-year-old in the summer.
But despite his contract expiring in 2021, the Bundesliga club are thought to still be demanding £70million, putting him firmly out of Arsenal's price range.
Arsenal have also looked at the likes of Merih Demiral, Nathan Ake and Daniele Rugani.
But all three come with complications.

Demiral has managed to force his way into Maurizio Sarri's Juventus starting XI of late, meaning he will be tricky to prise away from the Serie A champions.
Chelsea are front-runners for Ake, given that they have a £40million buy-back clause for the Bournemouth ace.
And Leicester have reportedly stolen a march on the Gunners for £21million-rated Rugani.
