Celtic and Rangers could face each other FIVE times in 20 days in crazy scenario

CELTIC and Rangers could be seeing a lot of each other with the potential for FIVE Old Firm clashes in just 20 days.

A lot of things would have to fall into place for the Glasgow rivals to face each other so often in a short space of time of course.

But despite being highly unlikely, fans of both clubs can note the dates on their calendars - just in case.

As things stand, Steven Gerrard's Rangers will welcome Neil Lennon and Celtic to Ibrox on Sunday, March 15 for the their third Premiership meeting of the season.

However, should both the Gers and the Hoops come through their respective Europa League clashes with Braga and Copenhagen to reach the last 16, they could be drawn against each other.

That would mean they would face off in the two-legged tie either side of their league meeting at Ibrox.

But there's still the Scottish Cup to consider, which could potentially add another TWO Glasgow derbies to what would be a very tight schedule.

Celtic are currently preparing for their fourth-round match-up against Partick Thistle, while Rangers are set to face Stranraer.

Should both teams reach the sixth round, and in the unlikely event they're drawn against each other, that game would be scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, February 29.

If that potential clash was to end in stalemate, a replay would likely have to be pencilled in for Wednesday, March 4 as this would be the only week free of European games before the international break.

Currently, Celtic are due to take on Livingston in the league that night while Rangers travel to Paisley to face St Mirren.

But if a replay was required, the Scottish Cup would take precedence and the league games would be rescheduled to accommodate the replay.

So while both sides of the Old Firm are only expecting to face each other twice more in the league this season, they could potentially be sick of the sight of each other in March.
