ASHLEY YOUNG has been left out of the Manchester United squad to play Nortwich as his transfer to Inter Milan draws closer.
The United skipper has already agreed personal terms to link up with former team-mates Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku under Antonio Conte.
As a result Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the 34-year-old out of the United team that beat Norwich at Old Trafford.
Young's contract expires in the summer and Inter - looking for a full-back - want to take the ex-England international on at a cut-price.
But United desperately wanted to persuade their skipper to stay and offered the player a one-year extension.
But Young rejected the contract approach as he wants to force through a move to Italy.
Old Trafford bosses do not want to lose the defender for nothing in the summer and look forced to do business with Serie A chasers Inter.
Luke Shaw also pulled out of today's matchday squad after injuring his hamstring in the warm-up, making United's need to hold on to Young even gretaer.
Solskjaer has been forced to look for a new skipper, as SunSport revealed Harry Maguire will be given the armband.
Captaincy has been shared this season when Young was not in the United side, with Maguire often taking it.
