Man Utd chief Ed Woodward ‘makes contact’ with San Lorenzo over loan transfer for young striker Adolfo Gaich

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward has reportedly made contact with Argentine side San Lorenzo over a loan move for their young striker Adolfo Gaich.

Fox Sports Argentina claims the 20-year-old is a target for the Red Devils on Deadline Day as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add a striker to his squad.

United have already failed with a bid for Bournemouth’s Josh King but have launched a second attempt.

And there is also no chance of signing Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain.

Even ex-Watford man Odion Ighalo is on United’s radar as they look to add to yesterday’s capture of Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.

And Woodward has now turned his attention to Gaich, who has four goals in nine league matches this season.

The wonderkid has already been capped by Argentina in last year’s 4-0 friendly win over Mexico.

However, it’s reckoned San Lorenzo have turned down the approach and it remains to be seen if United launch a second bid before tonight.

One man who feels the Red Devils need to go all-out for a proven goalscorer is Clinton Morrison.

He reckons Fernandes can provide a threat from deep, but United are still lacking in the forward areas with Marcus Rashford nursing a back injury for the next month.

Morrison told Sky Sports News: “Fernandes will go down good but they need a striker.

“They’re just outside that Champions League place and I do think they need one.

“Signing Fernandes was great. I’ve watched a lot of him, he’s a brilliant No 10.

“He’ll create stuff, he’ll score goals, I think that’s a really good signing.

“But I think to challenge to get into that top four, they do need to sign a quality striker.
