David Moyes among West Ham staff in coronavirus quarantine after shaking hands with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

WEST HAM are quarantining staff members who came into contact with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta last weekend, including manager David Moyes.

SunSport understands the Scot is among the staff being asked to self-isolate having shaken hands with his counterpart at Emirates Stadium.

However there is nothing to suggest Moyes, 56, is showing any coronavirus-like symptoms at this time.

On Thursday night, it was confirmed that Arteta, 37, had tested positive for the illness after feeling unwell earlier in the week.

It is thought a carrier of the virus can go up to 14 days without showing symptoms, making them potentially contagious during that period.

As a precaution, West Ham have confirmed certain employees are undergoing a period of self-isolation.

A statement on Friday read: "Due to members of West Ham personnel being in direct contact with the Arsenal manager at our game at Emirates Stadium at the weekend, the club is taking a precautionary approach and those individuals are now self-isolating, in line with Government health guidelines.

"The club will work with Public Health England regarding the welfare of our colleagues, their families and our supporters, which is of course our main priority at this time, and also in relation to our facilities, as well as continuing to work closely with the Premier League.

"West Ham has already taken a number of precautionary measures in regards to its facilities and its Rush Green training ground, where the management and squad have been based all week, will undergo a further deep clean and is closed until further notice.
