MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly hoping Anthony Martial can help them to pip Arsenal in the chase for Ousmane Dembele.

The forward signed for Barca in 2017 in a deal worth up to £138m from Borussia Dortmund.

But things have not worked out for the Frenchman at the Nou Camp due to a number of physical issues.

The 22-year-old has suffered seven muscular injuries since arriving at Barcelona, with the latest one expected to keep him out for around six months from February to August.

The La Liga giants are believed to be open to cutting their losses on the star, with speculation suggesting they would accept an offer of £52million.

And both Arsenal and the Red Devils are interested in bringing him to the Premier League and ending his nightmare in Spain.

Now claims United striker Martial’s friendship with his fellow Frenchman could give the Old Trafford side the edge.

Their report states the 25-year-old speaks regularly with Dembele, often talking up life in Manchester.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has handed Martial extra responsibility this term following the departures of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku last summer.

And he has rewarded that faith in him with 16 goals in 34 matches.

But the United boss is still looking to strengthen his attack once the transfer window re-opens.

Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho remains a top target for the Norwegian, although recent reports seem to suggest he may have switched his focus to Dembele instead.
