Serge Aurier facing axe at Tottenham after breaking coronavirus lockdown rules with Mourinho looking for new right-back

TOTTENHAM defender Serge Aurier is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club with Jose Mourinho said to be in the market for a new right-back.

The Ivory Coast international - who has come under fire for flouting lockdown rules - has been a regular under the Special One but is now deemed surplus to requirements.

Aurier joined Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team due to the form of England international Kieran Trippier.

But Aurier has made the No1 right-back slot his own and appeared in 24 Premier League games this season following Trippier's move to Atletico Madrid.

However it has been claimed that his position at the club isn't secure, with the stating that Norwich ace Max Aarons is a key target for Mourinho at the end of the campaign.

Aurier recently found himself in hot water with the club after he broke the Government's coronavirus lockdown rules by sharing a video of him training with team-mate Moussa Sissoko.

It was the second time that the player had ignored safety measures as he filmed himself running with a friend two weeks ago.

After deleting the clip of him and Sissoko, the duo both pledged to make donations to the NHS in a joint statement.

They said: "We recognise that as professional footballers we have a responsibility to be role models, particularly during this uncertain period that everyone around the world is facing.

"We wish to apologise for not setting the right example here. We must all respect the Government advice to minimise the number of lives lost during this pandemic.

"We cannot thank NHS staff enough for their tireless work at this time and we shall both be making a financial donation to show our support for their efforts."

Aurier - who admitted in October he wanted to leave Spurs last summer - still harbours a dream of returning to PSG.

Speaking earlier this month of his desire to play for Les Parisiens once again, he said: "If I can see myself finish my career at PSG? That is even my plan!

"I would like to finish at PSG. It is before everything else the club of my heart. I have a feeling of unfinished business. It has been my club since I was a kid, I would go watch matches at the Parc des Princes.

"It was a dream for me to come to PSG and for me that dream is not finished. If I was to finish my career at PSG, I would love that."
