French World Cup winner Pogba has only made eight appearances for United this season and speculation continues to mount over his future.

But former Red Devils team-mate Herrera has given him the biggest possible endorsement.

Herrera told : "[Pogba] can be the best midfielder in the world.

"In terms of qualities, he has everything. I have never seen a midfielder who has all the qualities you can have. He can recover a lot of balls, he can head the ball, he can score goals, he can defend, he can attack, he's so strong and tall.

"It's true that since he came to the club he has some ups and downs, but when he was good, he was really good. Amazing. It was a pleasure to play with him.

"I think all the Manchester United fans want to see the best of Pogba. That can happen, and with Bruno Fernandes, I think Manchester United can do great things. Liverpool and Man City are also doing great things. It's not easy but with Paul, Bruno, Marcus [Rashford] ... they can."

Allegedly Pogba had his next move already arranged but the outbreak of Covid-19 threw a spanner in the works and his plans have had to be put on hold.

Rumours continue to swirl that Pogba could be set to join compatriot Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid but it has also been reported that Los Blancos are ducking out of a deal over wage concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Pogba's old side Juventus could also be in the running for his signature as the Old Lady seek to bring him back to Turin where he enjoyed great success in between his two spells at Old Trafford.

Herrera - who left United to join Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain last summer - formed a productive midfield partnership with Pogba during their time at the club.

But TV pundit Gary Neville believes Pogba could form a superior connection with popular January signing Bruno Fernandes which could even propel the Frenchman onto the Ballon d'Or.
