MANCHESTER UNITED AND ARSENAL have reportedly enquired about Gent forward Jonathan David.

The Canadian international was in fine form for his club side this season before the Belgian league was suspended in March and subsequently cancelled.

According to , the Premier League duo have been tracking David for months and have now firmed up their interest with the player's agent.

They are likely to face competition from across Europe, with Ajax, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan and Porto all interested in the 20-year-old.

And United and Arsenal are not the only Premier League clubs chasing his signature.

Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester have also been linked with David in the past few months.

However, Gent managing director Michel Louwagie has no plans to let the youngster leave on the cheap.

Louwagie previously stated that a bid in excess of £20million would be needed to prise David away from the club, although his stance may have softened given the impact the cancelled Belgian season could have on Gent's finances.

But the report states that no proposal has been made to the club as yet.

The talented attacker is capable of playing across the front line and has been lauded in Belgium for his versatility.

He has featured as an attacking midfielder, second striker and lone frontman this season alone, and his flexibility is sure to have caught the eye of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mikel Arteta, respectively.

David finished the 2019-20 season with 23 goals in 40 appearances for Gent, including 18 in the league.

In December, he was also named the Canadian Men's Player of the Year ahead of Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.
