Chelsea boost in Kai Havertz transfer as Bayer Leverkusen insist they will not block his exit with ‘many’ clubs keen

BAYER LEVERKUSEN are ready to let Kai Havertz leave in the summer after he admitted he wants a new challenge.

Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, are strongly linked with Havertz, 21, in a summer deal worth as much as £90million.

And Leverkusen are well aware of the German international's ambitions.

Carro told : "With Kai Havertz, I see that many clubs are interested in him.

"Kai has been with us for ten years. I see the player's desire to take the next step some time in the near future.

"You have to try to find a solution where the player's goal can be reconciled with ours.

"No one can say for sure what is going to happen at the moment."

A summer saga is unfolding around Havertz after he made an exceptional return to action upon Bundesliga's restart.

Five goals in five appearances have helped push his side back into Champions League contention.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Leverkusen reportedly got off to a tough start due to differences in the player's valuation.

Bundesliga leaders Munich are said to have taken the lead in the race to strike a deal.
