Bayern Munich make £36m transfer bid for Leroy Sane and will sign Man City winger on free next summer if bid is rejected
BAYERN MUNICH have reportedly tabled a £36million bid for Manchester City star Leroy Sane - with the club said to be willing to wait until next year to sign him.
The 24-year-old is destined to leave the Etihad having rejected a new deal from the club to extend his four-year spell with the Citizens.
Bundesliga champions Bayern are known to be long-term admirers of the City winger as they look to bring him back to Germany.
According to Bild reporter Christian Falk, Pep Guardiola's side must now weigh up whether to cash in on Sane for a reduced fee at the end of the season, or allow him to depart for nothing next summer.
Falk : "Because of many requests about Leroy Sane, there is still no agreement on the transfer fee.
"Bayern Munich has offered offers €40million (£36m). The poker continues.
"Man City now knows Sane will go to Munich. Either for a lower transfer fee in 2020 or in summer 2021 for free."
Commenting on his future at City, Guardiola recently said: “Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend, it means he wants to leave and he will leave this summer or next summer.
“The club talked to me three or four times and he’s rejected his contract and he wants to play for another club."
When asked whether there is still any hope of the ex-Schalke ace doing a U-turn and agreeing to stay, Guardiola replied: “No.
"Leroy has said he’s rejected the contract and like everyone knows the end of the season we get an agreement he’ll leave.
“If not then he’ll stay one more year and then leave.”
Bayern chief Uli Hoeness let slip last month that he is hopeful of Sane joining the Bavarian outfit in the summer.
