Guendouzi ‘brags about £40k-a-week Arsenal wages’ but FIVE Brighton players including bitter rival Maupay earn more

MATTEO GUENDOUZI bragged about earning more than Brighton's stars during Saturday's tempestuous clash on the south coast.

But, it turns out FIVE Seagulls stars out of their starting XI, including bitter rival Neal Maupay, earn more than him.

Guendouzi, 21, lost his rag during his side's 2-1 loss at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, taunting Maupay about his wages before grabbing him by the throat.

And the Frenchman was wrong on all counts... as nearly half of Brighton's starting XI pocket more than him, including arch-rival Maupay.

In fact, from the Gunners starters from the weekend, only Rob Holding (£25,000 a week) and Bukayo Saka (£3,000 a week) earn less than £40,000-a-week midfielder Guendouzi.

While SIX of Arsenal's starters earn over £100,000 a week - with want away captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the way on £200,000 per week.

Three further Gunners stars earn £100,000 a week or more, including benchwarmer Mesut Ozil - the club's top-earner at £350,000 per week.

Meanwhile, no one in Brighton's starting XI earned more than £50,000 a week - with Pascal Gross and Maupay topping the charts.

Lewis Dunk and Davy Propper come in next on £45,000 per week, with Leandro Trossard on £42,000 a week - ALL ahead of boastful Guendouzi.

All in all, Arsenal's starters earn over £1m per week combined - more than twice Brighton's figure of £415,000 a week.

Tempers well and truly boiled over at the end of the Gunners' miserable 2-1 defeat on the south coast.

Guendouzi was was filmed grabbing Brighton match-winner Maupay around the throat and hurling him to the ground after his last-gasp winner.

Despite the incredible display of violence, Guendouzi somehow escaped a retrospective three-match ban.

Maupay had earlier been involved in a nasty incident with Gunners goalkeeper Bernd Leno, with the German seriously injuring his knee.
