A message underneath the ad - put up very near to the Theatre of Dreams - read: "Thank you for your leadership, Marcus. (Now kids won't go hungry this summer)."

Celebrities and fans have since called for Rashford to be knighted after he forced a government U-turn on meal vouchers.

The England striker, 22, has been praised for his efforts in convincing the Government to provide £15-a-week meal vouchers for poor kids in the UK during the summer holidays.

After increased pressure from Tory MPs and a social media avalanche, Mr Johnson scrapped his previous decision to end the scheme.

Some fans even went so far as to call for Rashford to be Prime Minister after his victory over Johnson.

Rashford tweeted after his landmark win: "I don’t even know what to say. Just look at what we can do when we come together, THIS is England in 2020."

The PM phoned Rashford to thank him, and said extending the scheme “is the right thing to do”.

Mr Johnson said: “I talked to Marcus Rashford to congratulate him on his campaign.

“I thank him for what he has done – I think he is right to draw attention to this issue. We have got large numbers of kids who we haven’t been able to get back into school.

“I do think it’s right we should be looking after families of the most vulnerable right now.”

Rashford joined fellow Premier League stars in taking a knee for Black Lives Matter in United's first game back against Tottenham.

United fans can expect to see Rash back in action when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team host Sheffield United tonight.
