GUEN WILL IT END?

Seven times Arsenal badboy Guendouzi lost his head including getting booked for sarcasm and bragging about wages

ARSENAL'S Matteo Guendouzi has become one of the Premier League's badboys.

The midfielder has impressed since moving to North London in 2018 but has also developed a reputation for being somewhat of a wind-up merchant.

His latest flare up saw him clash with Brighton's Neal Maupay on Saturday as the Gunners slipped to a 2-1 defeat on the south coast.

Guendouzi miraculously escaped any further action after the incident, but it is the latest in a long line of instances where the French star has lost his head.

Here, SunSport run you through seven times the 21-year-old has lost his composure in an Arsenal shirt.

Despite his tender age Guendouzi plays with his heart on his sleeve and his passion is never in question, but it spilled over last weekend against Brighton.

Seagulls forward Maupay was involved in a controversial first-half collision with Gunners keeper Bernd Leno which saw the German stretchered off - much to his visible displeasure as he fired a parting shot at Maupay.

But after Maupay broke Arsenal hearts with a last-gasp winner, Guendouzi disregarded all thoughts of social distancing and grabbed the pantomine villain of the day's throat and a post-match melee ensued.

It was also claimed that he was taunting Brighton players about their lower wages and the suggested he told them he "earns more money than you ever will" during the match.

An ugly look.

Mike Dean

Referee Mike Dean clearly irked Guendouzi when he prevented him from taking a quick free-kick against Portsmouth in the FA Cup earlier this season.

The Frenchman responded to Dean's request for him to move the ball back by sarcastically hoisting it high above his head and dramatically placing it down on the turf.

Dean was not impressed and booked Guendouzi for his theatrics.

Wilfried Zaha

Guendouzi must have thought he was playing in the Six Nations when he rugby tackled Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha to prevent a breakaway back in October.

The Gunners were drawing 2-2 in the dying seconds when Guendouzi took drastic action to stop Zaha and ONLY received a yellow card for his troubles despite seemingly being the last defender.

The unusual challenge sparked a mass brawl between players and Guendouzi later said: "I had to foul Zaha at the end, otherwise he is through on goal on his own."

Watford

Guendouzi was subbed off against Watford in September to a chorus of boos from the Vicarage Road faithful.

But not to be outdone, Guendouzi responded with the classic winning footballer's retort of reminding the opposition fans of the scoreline.

The Gunners were leading 2-1 but Guendouzi could only watch on from the bench as Watford equalised. Awkward.

Training

Guendouzi does not reserve his antics just for matches.

The former Lorient man has been caught messing about in training by diving and rolling around on the floor.

John Terry

It is not just refs and players that attract Guendouzi's attention, even opposition coaches are fair game for the youngster.

He reportedly told Aston Villa assistant boss John Terry that he was in his head after the Gunners bagged a late winner against lowly Villa in September.

It is not too hard to see why he has become something of a cult hero at the Emirates...

The quick-fire way to endear yourself to Arsenal fans is by having a pop at arch rivals Spurs.

And Guendouzi did just that in March 2019 when he made an ear-cupping gesture in front of Tottenham supporters after Aaron Ramsey's opener in the North London derby.

However, despite turning into a fan favourite, Guendouzi is thought to have tested the patience of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta with his latest outburst.

Reportedly Real Madrid and Barcelona are chasing the midfielder as the Gunners are ready to sell.

Guendouzi joined for a fee in the region of £7million from Lorient two years ago.
