Fleetwood install semi-naked mannequins and blow-up DOLLS as fan replacements for League One play-offs
FLEETWOOD are filling the stands with semi-naked mannequins and blow-up dolls for their League One play-off game against Wycombe.
With all fixtures being played behind-closed-doors, the seaside club aren’t happy with an empty stadium.
So men, women and children, in the form of dolls, are on the terraces for the crunch clash.
But some will be hoping the wind doesn’t whip up on the coast as they show their support – and possibly a lot more.
Football fans were left in stitches when the Cod Army ‘fan’ photos did the rounds on social media.
Dave Reddy tweeted that it was “a top effort” while Sam Heaney posted that you’ve “got to love our club” that is “one big family”.
Jay Hilton described the scene as “class”, while Lynne Saunders posted that she “loved this”
But Dave Nuttall was worried that the “one with no trousers on” looked “a bit dodgy”.
Fleetwood entertain Wycombe at Highbury Stadium on Friday evening in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final.
And fiery head coach Joey Barton has warned his players they might not get a second chance.
Barton said: “We can’t get away from the first game – it’s the most important game of our lives on Friday night, there’s no getting away from that.
“You can’t save something for the second leg and then try to save something for the final 10 days later because you might not even have that opportunity – the game might be beyond you.
“We need to make sure we turn up on Friday night and give a great account of ourselves.
“If we can leave the stadium on Friday making the people of the town proud of what they’ve just watched or seen on the TV, then that for us is progress.”
