MAN ONA MISSION

Chelsea joined by Bayer Leverkusen in Andre Onana transfer race as Germans have £18m bid rejected by Ajax for keeper

CHELSEA face competition in the race to sign Andre Onana, with Bayer Leverkusen reportedly having had an £18million bid knocked back by Ajax for the highly-rated goalkeeper.

The Blues have been linked with a move of their own for the Cameroonian, following a dreadful campaign for current No1 Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Boss Frank Lampard appears set on securing a new goalkeeper, having dropped the Spaniard once again for yesterday's crucial top-four clincher against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

Onana, 24, has long been touted as a potential replacement - with Chelsea having raided Ajax once already this year with the signing of Hakim Ziyech.

But if they are to do business with the Dutch giants again, they will have to beat off competition.

According to Goal's , Leverkusen have had a bid of around £18m rejected by Erik ten Hag's side.

Onana looks set to leave Amsterdam this summer either way, with just two years remaining on his contract.

But Ajax's No1 is not the only goalkeeper on Chelsea's radar, however, with Atletico Madrid assistant manager German Burgos having recently confirmed the Blues' interest in £90m-rated Jan Oblak.

He told Marca: "If I only quote one who I would take from Atletico Madrid, it would be bad - I have to name them all.

"Look, the Russian [Roman Abramovich] wants to take Oblak."

The West Londoners appear desperate to put Kepa's two-year hold on their No1 jersey to an end... and his stats make it easy to see why.

At 54.5 per cent the Spaniard possesses the worst domestic save percentage in Europe's top-five leagues.

And his European save percentage of just 50 per cent tallies as the worst in the Champions League.

Valencia are reportedly interested in ending the £71m 25-year-old's nightmare Stamford Bridge stint - but a deal may have to be a loan move rather than a permanent transfer.
