Juan Sebastian Veron claims Alexis Sanchez flopped at Man Utd as he’s more suited to Italy.. despite Arsenal success

JUAN SEBASTIAN VERON claims Arsenal legend Alexis Sanchez flopped at Manchester United because he is more suited to Italian football.

Famous Old Trafford failure Veron even tips 31-year-old "enormous talent" Sanchez to play his best football ever in Serie A - just like he did - after the Chile striker turned an Inter Milan loan deal into a permanent move.

Former Barcelona star Sanchez followed up 80 goals in 166 games for Arsenal with five in 45 for United - on wages of £505,000 a week.

And after much-improved post-lockdown form for Inter he now has four goals and ten assists in 31 matches for the Italian giants.

Ex-Argentina, Lazio and Sampdoria playmaker Veron failed to explain why Sanchez was such a mobile menace for the Gunners but a muted makeweight for United.

But ahead of Inter's Europa League final against Sevilla on Friday, the 45-year-old said: "I was at my best in Italy and I think that’s true of Alexis Sanchez too.

"I watched Sanchez play here, he’s got enormous talent and is fantastic for Chile.

"Personally, I had some ups and downs at Manchester United, but I was at my best in Italy.

"I believe a player really finds he belongs in one league more than another.

"I know I did and I think that’s true of Alexis Sanchez too.

"He is a great representative not just of Chile, but also all of South American football."

Sanchez would have faced United in Friday's showpiece in Cologne had Sevilla not stunned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men with a 2-1 comeback win in last Sunday's semi-final.
