Los Blancos have been itching to dump Bale - and his £650,000-a-week wages - this summer.

Both Tottenham and Manchester United had been keen, but the Londoners appear to have won the race to bring the golf-mad Welshman home.

Spurs opted against an £18.5million move and instead settled for a season-long loan deal, with the Premier League side set to pay just 50 per cent of his wages.

And on Friday morning, chairman Levy drove into Tottenham's training ground to get an early start on the day's rumoured activities.

Levy was seen biting his fingernails as the sun rose over Enfield, in a possible sign of pre-deal nerves.

Bale is claimed to have had a plane on standby at Madrid Airport this week as he prepares to escape the club.

And not only could the former Southampton star get his wish to leave the Bernabeu, he may even be able to enjoy a round of golf with Levy during his Friday visit.

A leaked image appeared to show Bale was booked in for a round with Levy and chief scout Steve Hitchen.

Should Bale's deal go through smoothly, the Welshman will be stuck on a personalised, intensive training regime.

On Thursday morning, Bale appeared to say his goodbyes to his Los Blancos team-mates ahead of his move back to England.

He arrived at the club's Valdebebas training base at around 10.15am local time amid reports a plane was waiting to take him to England.

Jose Mourinho is claimed to have given the deal to bring Bale back to North London the green light - despite his monster pay demands.

Even though Tottenham only have to fork out for half of his wages, they club will have to pay him £325,000 a week.

That means Bale will still easily become Tottenham's top earner on £325,000 per week, ahead of Harry Kane's £200,000 a week.
