Granada demand apology from sponsor over crude tweet mocking 6-1 humiliating defeat to Luis Suarez’s Atletico Madrid
SPANISH football club Granada are demanding an apology from one of its own sponsors after they posted a crude joke about their 6-1 thrashing by Atletico Madrid.
After the game betting company Winamax Deportes, whose name and logo are on the front of the club shirts, uploaded a crude tweet hinting at sexual intercourse.
It appears the organisation used the shocking tweet to poke fun at how Granada were thrashed by Atletico.
Granada have since tweeted demanding an apology.
The Spaniards tweeted out: "Granada demand a public apology and immediate rectification from Winamax Deportes for their offensive and disrespectful tweet towards the club and its fans.
"Likewise, we reserve the right to take the appropriate action in defence of the interests of an institution with 89 years of history."
Suarez was booted out of Barcelona much to the dismay of close pal Lionel Messi.
But the Catalan giants' loss was Atleti's gain for only £5.5million and Suarez wasted no time in making his mark in the Spanish capital, also grabbing an assist.
He immediately put Marcos Llorente away to score Atleti's fourth after coming on as a second-half sub.
And it took him just 15 minutes to open his own account in his new colours when he rattled the net with a towering header in the 85th minute.
Things got even better for the former Liverpool man when he notched his second in eight minutes in stoppage time to complete a 6-1 rout at the Wanda Metropolitano.
It was the perfect start to the new league campaign for Diego Simeone's side.
Incredibly Suarez became the first player to score and assist on his LaLiga debut for Atleti this CENTURY and the first to bag two on debut.
But while things were all rosy for Suarez, Granada were left fuming at the result and then being mocked by their own sponsor.
