CELTIC have made a move to sign Tottenham youngster Ryan Sessegnon, according to reports.

The former Fulham winger, 20, has struggled since his £25million move to Spurs last summer.

Sessegnon featured just 12 times last term - scoring once - and hasn't played a single minute this season.

Reports in Scotland now claim Celtic are hoping to rescue Sessegnon from his North London hell, having been signed by former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the report also states the Hoops are finding it difficult to negotiate the finances of the deal and face competition from "a number of Premier League clubs".

Scotland-based Sky Sports journalist tweeted: "Celtic made an approach for Spurs left-back Ryan Sessegnon.

"But Sky Sports News understands the finances of a potential deal have proved problematic.

"A number of Premier League clubs are also interested in the 20-year-old."

Last month, it was claimed Jose Mourinho would give Sessegnon a shot in the first team.

The Portuguese boss was said to have rejected loan moves from the likes of Barcelona, such was his faith in the youngster.

But even amidst a packed schedule - including two games, against Newcastle and Chelsea, in 48 hours - Mourinho is yet to give Sessegnon a run-out.

Sessegnon's chances at left-back will be limited after Mourinho brought in Sergio Reguilon, with Ben Davies and Danny Rose also on the books.

And further up the pitch, Son Heung-min is the undoubted No1 left winger, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela all competing for minutes out wide.

Old club Fulham have already been linked with a move for Sessegnon.

However, co-owner Tony Khan admitted his side were in the market for a centre-back above all else, for now.

The Cottagers have since been linked with a shock move for Inter Milan star - and Tottenham target - Milan Skriniar.
